Use One Small Frustration

May 2026 • A small practice for returning to yourself in the midst of frustration.

Some moments feel like interruptions.

A stuck zipper.
A slow-loading web page.
A drawer that will not close.
A person moving more slowly than you want them to move.

The mind quickly decides that this thing is in the way.

It is keeping you from getting on with your day.
It is wasting your time.
It should not be happening.

But sometimes the interruption is not separate from the day.

It is the day.

And for a moment, it can become a place to practice moving differently.

Try this:

The next time you meet one small frustration, pause before pushing harder.

Let your body soften slightly.

Take one breath.

Then give your attention to the thing itself, without adding a "story" to it.

The zipper.
The page.
The drawer.
The waiting.

Do the next small thing with a little less force than usual.

You do not have to like the frustration.
But you also do not have to see it merely as a stumbling block.

Just let it be a place where you stop rushing for a moment.

See what changes when the obstacle is no longer only something in your way, but also the place where you return to yourself.
